RUJI Token
Learn how RUJI captures value and how staking rewards are generated from real protocol revenue.
Use the RUJI staking page to manage your position, and read the [RUJI token docs](https://docs.rujira.network/understanding ruji token) for full details.
The RUJI token is the revenue sharing token of the Rujira ecosystem.
When you hold RUJI and stake it, you receive a share of the revenue generated across Rujira's decentralized finance products. As activity on the platform grows, the fees generated by Rujira products are distributed to RUJI stakers.
This means RUJI allows you to participate directly in the growth of the Rujira ecosystem while earning rewards from real protocol activity.
RUJI has value because it gives holders access to a share of the revenue generated across the entire Rujira ecosystem.
Every time users trade, borrow, lend, or interact with Rujira's decentralized finance products, small fees are generated. These fees are collected and distributed to RUJI stakers.
Holding RUJI therefore represents a long term stake in the growth and success of Rujira, similar to owning a share in a network that produces revenue.
Each product on Rujira charges small usage fees. These fees vary depending on the product, such as trading fees on RUJI Trade or borrowing fees in RUJI Money Market.
The collected fees are converted into USDC1 and distributed to users who stake RUJI.
This creates a direct link between platform activity and RUJI staking rewards, meaning the more the ecosystem is used, the more revenue can flow to RUJI stakers.
Quick definitions
USDC (USD Coin): a stablecoin, meaning a cryptocurrency designed to maintain a stable value, usually pegged to the US dollar.
Rujira products generate real revenue from user activity across the ecosystem.
When users trade, borrow, or interact with Rujira's decentralized finance applications, fees are generated. After covering THORChain's share of the revenue, typically around 50%, though it can be lower in some cases, the remaining fees are converted into USDC and distributed to RUJI stakers.
This means staking rewards come from real platform usage rather than token inflation.
RUJI has a fixed supply of 100 million tokens.
There are currently no mechanisms that increase or decrease the total number of RUJI tokens over time. This fixed supply means the token supply does not inflate as the ecosystem grows.
In most cases, revenue generated by Rujira applications is split 50/50 between Rujira and THORChain's Base Layer.
Some products use THORChain liquidity and pay a fee to THORChain on every swap. In those cases, the Rujira product keeps 100% of its affiliate fees for RUJI stakers because it already contributes to THORChain's system income through its usage.
For example, RUJI Swap uses THORChain liquidity pools, meaning it contributes to THORChain's system income directly and 100% of the affiliate fees go to RUJI stakers.
The rewards you receive depend on the staking option you choose.
Standard RUJI staking: You earn rewards in USDC, which can be claimed manually.
Auto compounding staking: Your USDC rewards are automatically used to buy more RUJI and add it to your staked position, increasing your stake over time.
This allows users to either collect rewards manually or automatically grow their RUJI position.
Yes. When you stake RUJI, you can choose between normal staking and auto compounding.
Normal staking earns USDC rewards that you can claim manually.
Auto compounding uses your USDC rewards to buy more RUJI and add it to your staked position automatically.
This lets you either collect rewards as USDC or keep growing your RUJI stake over time.
The APR1 or APY2 of RUJI staking will change depending on several factors:
The total revenue generated by all Rujira products
The total amount of RUJI that is staked
Because rewards come from real ecosystem activity, staking returns can change over time as usage grows.
Quick definitions
APR (Annual Percentage Rate): the yearly reward rate without compounding.
APY (Annual Percentage Yield): the yearly reward rate including compounding.
